The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut hypercar has just set a new record for the highest top speed in a standing half mile.

The Swedish supercar is already renowned for its incredible top speed, but this new record backs up its performance credentials.

Test driver Markus Lundh was at the wheel of the car as he propelled it from a standstill to well over 200MPH.

Footage from Koenigsegg and its founder, Christian von Koenigsegg, was uploaded onto Instagram and recorded the incredible achievement.

The Jesko Absolut sprinted quickly to well over 200MPH

The standing half mile is a run from a standstill to the half mile mark, in as fast a time as possible.

The acceleration during this attempt was incredible, with the hypercar going from 0-62MPH in just 2.79 seconds.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, then it took the Jesko Absolut just 2.74 seconds to go from 62 to 124MPH.

The Koenigsegg then went from 124 to 186MPH, and it achieved this in 3.96 seconds.

It hit the quarter-mile marker in just 8.88 seconds, and then it hit the half-mile mark not long after.

And by that point, the hypercar had reached a top speed of 224MPH.

The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut also stopped in a short space of time

Another superb feature of the car is its fearsome stopping ability.

The car recently took the record for the fastest 0-400-0KMH time, ironically from its stablemate, the Regera.

When the Jesko Absolut took the record, it achieved a top speed of 256.45MPH.

In total, the car achieved the 0-400KMH and then back to 0KMH feat in just 27.83 seconds.

Both this and the half-mile top speed are two records now held by the Swedish hypercar, something Christian von Koenigsegg is naturally very proud of.

The Absolut differs from the standard Jesko as its focus is on low drag, allowing it to travel at over 300MPH.

Thanks to the 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 under the hood, the Absolut has an incredible 1,600HP and 1,106LB-FT of torque.

It’s probably fair to say that when it comes to speed, Koenigsegg leaves other marques in the dust.
