Leonardo DiCaprio resorted to a clever tactic to use ‘his’ Range Rover to beat traffic in London.
The Oscar-winning actor was recently spotted cruising through London’s traffic in a Range Rover.
The trick is that the Range Rover allegedly belongs to somebody who has even more privileges than a Hollywood star.
It’s a neat trick, but there’s a reason most people can’t do it.

How DiCaprio managed to beat traffic in London
As reported by UK tabloid, The Sun, DiCaprio was alleged to have been riding in a $100,000 Range Rover tied to an Ivory Coast diplomat – and that means it carries diplomatic plates.
It’s a ‘normal’ Range Rover – not the SVR model – but its plates mean that, among other things, you don’t have to worry about parking tickets.
Foreign diplomats and their vehicles are protected from prosecution for most minor offenses under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961).
That includes parking fines, congestion charges, and even some speeding tickets.

Obviously, diplomatic cars are not completely exempt from the law, but smaller offenses tend to be ignored or tolerated.
It’s a neat trick, but it means you need to know a diplomat in London who’s willing to lend you their car.
If true, Leonardo DiCaprio’s celebrity status may have helped a lot on that front.
Being a diplomat is as close as you can get to having superpowers
Being a high-level diplomat is perhaps the closest a civilian can get to having actual superpowers.
In some countries, politicians enjoy even more privileges, but they have permanent targets on their backs for obvious reasons.
But generally speaking, no one has ‘beef’ with diplomats.
As a high-ranking diplomat, in addition to the aforementioned traffic-related privileges, you get a passport that allows you to skip every possible line at any airport, and you have staff at your disposal 24/7.

Including drivers, of course.
You won’t get to use the presidential limo, but you’ll get to ride in the back of a Mercedes S-Class or a BMW 7 Series.
Not a bad way to live.
Disclaimer: using diplomatic plates if you are not a diplomat or a specifically authorized, accredited staff member is illegal and considered a serious offense.
Driving with these plates when not entitled to do so constitutes vehicle fraud, which can result in vehicle seizure, significant fines, and potential criminal charges.
