If you ever doubted human ingenuity, you should check out this Lotus Elise carrying a Christmas tree like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
A Reddit post showing the lightweight sports car parked in a lot with a tree strapped to its roof has become an instant festive favorite.
The caption summed it up perfectly: ‘Practicality is a mindset’.
And judging by the comments, it seems not everyone agrees.

The Lotus Elise isn’t exactly a workhorse vehicle
For the uninitiated, the Lotus Elise is about as far from ‘practical daily hauler’ as a road-legal car can get.

The Elise is tiny, low to the ground, and relentlessly focused on driving feel.
It has minimal storage, a small front trunk, and an interior that prioritizes steering feedback over cupholders.
In other words, it’s a weekend toy, not a trip-to-the-hardware-store machine (at least in theory).
That’s why the image struck such a nerve online.

The Christmas tree is strapped to the roof with what appears to be careful consideration, not reckless abandon.
One cheeky commenter joked, ‘Scratched paint is a reality’, prompting a calm and confident reply from the owner.
According to the owner, there are two carefully placed towels under the tree, and they’ve been hauling festive foliage this way for four years without a single scratch.
Consider that an annual tradition backed by empirical data.
The image outraged other drivers
Naturally, not everyone was convinced.
Some users were outright horrified, pointing out that tree lots and stores offer delivery services for exactly this reason.
Others used the photo as justification for their own life choices, with one commenter noting that this is exactly why they live in a two-car household: one sensible car, one fun one.
The Elise owner, however, clearly subscribes to the idea that fun cars don’t need to be sidelined just because real life gets in the way.

This Lamborghini Gallardo owner has a similar mindset, using his $106,000 supercar as a daily driver.
In a world filled with massive SUVs and hefty trucks, there’s something refreshingly rebellious about strapping a Christmas tree to a featherweight sports car, and calling it a day.
