Lotus has unveiled its first-ever plug-in hybrid, and it comes with an impressive 952 horsepower and a very unusual name.
In 2021, Lotus launched the Emira, equipped with a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine and destined to be the last gas-powered Lotus ever made.
However, it seems as though the carmaker isn’t quite ready to say a complete goodbye to combustion engines just yet, because it has now introduced a new hybrid SUV to its line-up.
The car is essentially a hybrid version of the Lotus Eletre, but with a more power and a decidedly bizarre moniker.

The first-ever Lotus plug-in hybrid is based on the Eletre SUV
The all-electric Eletre went into production in 2022 and was the carmaker’s first-ever SUV.
The Eletre is powered by either a 107kWh or a 112kWh battery, which produces a little over 600 horsepower for the base and S trims, and a beefy 905hp for the top-of-the-range R trim.

It had previously been reported that Lotus was heading towards an all-electric line-up as it went into the future, but now it seems those plans have changed.
Its latest offering is a plug-in hybrid variant of the Eletre, which will feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four engine alongside a 70.0kWh battery to produce a combined output of 952hp.
Lotus has said its new hybrid will be able to hit 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds, and can cover up to 261 miles using its battery power alone.
As well as moving pretty fast, it can also charge fast, going from 30 to 80 percent battery in eight minutes.
However, that extra engine does add some additional weight.
Compared to its EV sibling, the hybrid model will weigh around 1,000 pounds more.
The new hybrid has been given an unusual name
To differentiate between the two, the upcoming hybrid has been given a new name, and it’s fair to say it’s a bit strange.

Lotus has opted to call its first-ever hybrid For Me.
Yep, you read that correctly, it’s the Lotus For Me.
The For Me is slated to officially debut next month, before going on sale in China early next year.
A European version, which may or may not bear the same name, is expected to follow later in 2026.
As yet, pricing for the hybrid has not been revealed, but for some context, the Eletre launched with a starting price of $77,600.
