  • This 1976 Chevrolet Vega is a real time capsule
  • It’s never had a license plate and is in great nick
  • It’s a little expensive for a Vega, but a bargain among muscle cars

This low-mileage 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega, currently available for sale in Virginia, is a time capsule.

It only has around 1,000 miles on the clock, and it never worn a plate.

It looks exactly the same as it would have about 50 years ago when it left the showroom.

The owner is now trying to sell it, and the price might shock you.

The 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega is the sort of car most people may have forgotten about.

This is probably because this is a rare high-performance version of a car that’s not exactly super famous to begin with.

You could probably ask 1,000 random people to name the most famous Chevrolet models they can think of, and we’re fairly certain the Vega wouldn’t be included in top five or maybe even the top 10.

It’s a shame, because it was a great car and it can be had for cheap, precisely because it’s not as popular as, for example, a Chevrolet Chevelle or a Pontiac Firebird from the same era.

This one certainly is not expensive at all, especially when you compare it to the aforementioned icons.

It’s a 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega, which as the name might suggest was a high-performance iteration of the Vega powered by a Cosworth engine.

Among others, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is powered by a Cosworth engine, so that says a lot about the resume of this engine manufacturer.

The engine under the hood is a 2.0-liter unit with 110 horsepower, and the car starts and runs well.

Then again we’d expect this from a car that’s never had a license plate and only covered 1,090 miles.

Only 3,508 Cosworth Vegas were built, and this particular low-mileage 1976 Chevrolet is available in Staunton, Virginia for $17,500.

It’s not cheap for a Vega, but it is a lot cheaper than most muscle cars from the era in equivalent condition.
