A man decided to find out if he could buy a Harley-Davidson Pan America motorcycle using nothing but a bunch of gift cards.
These days, you can get gift cards for thousands of companies and services, from Netflix and DoorDash to Harley-Davidson.
However, as the cards usually carry pretty low values, they’re mainly used to buy merch and accessories.
But here’s what happened when one man decided to spend thousands of dollars on a heap of Harley-Davidson gift cards to see if he could use them to buy a bike.

He bought a lot of Harley-Davidson gift cards, and they were not refundable
Sean from the Bikes and Beards YouTube channel explained that with Christmas just a few weeks ago, he’d been gifted a $25 Harley-Davidson gift card that brought him ‘no closer’ to being able to buy a motorcycle.
However, he was curious to find out if he could save up enough cash on gift cards, would he be able to buy a real deal Harley-Davidson?

Rather than wait decades to have enough gift cards given to him to match the value of a motorcycle, Sean decided to take matters into his own hands and bought a lot of gift cards.
And we do mean a lot.
After setting off on his slightly bizarre quest, he quickly amassed a stack of $25 cards before finding a retailer that would allow him to load up to $500 per card.
However, in an attempt to stop scammers who often con people into buying gift cards, there were restrictions in place, and he was told there was a $5,000 per day limit, which he happily hit.

By the end of his two-day spending spree, Sean was in possession of $20,000-worth of Harley-Davidson gift cards.
He was also warned by the cashiers that the cards were non-refundable, so if he couldn’t buy a Harley-Davidson, at least he’d be set for merch and clothing for the rest of his life…
Alongside that, the conditions of sale noted that they were only usable at ‘participating Harley dealerships/online’ and Sean was left with no idea if the cards would be accepted at a dealership, but there was only one way to find out, right?
So, can you buy a motorcycle with gift cards?
He visited Chesapeake Harley-Davidson and picked out a Harley-Davidson Pan America – a very good choice – but the staff member he spoke to seemed reluctant.
They initially raised concerns about potential scams, and even when the YouTuber shared proof of his many, many gift card purchases, they still made a ‘business decision’ to say no.
Ouch.
With no option to buy the motorcycle, Sean left the dealership feeling frustrated and began to work out a Plan B.
But he then received a call from someone at the dealership who told him to return, and they’d honor the purchase.
After a Herculean 45-minute gift card scanning session at the dealership, Sean was the proud owner of the Harley-Davidson Pan America and did a victory lap around the car park.
