This American man built an impressive 850hp race car and used it for groceries, but that’s not all that gearheads had their eyes on.

Despite the ruby red race car shining in the sun, people’s attention was on something else entirely.

The creation was captured in the car park of a Costco superstore as the owner loaded shopping into the vehicle.

And once you see the glaring fact, you simply won’t be able to look away.

This 850HP race car was hand-built by a clever gearhead

Race cars are impressive machines with powerful engines that soar down tracks at high speeds, and are often made by popular car manufacturers.

But this guy decided to build one by himself.

Content creator dondavismotorsports shared his hand-built race car online, and it’s capable of pumping out a whopping 850hp.

The bright red car has been taken to events, including Car Week, and has even appeared at Laguna Seca Raceway.

But, this time the attention wasn’t on the car’s racing capabilities, but something entirely different.

In one of the most recent videos posted by the content creator, the motorsports enthusiast showed how he used his creation for an everyday task – shopping.

But, fans online were more focused on how he parked the impressive red race car in a zone that wasn’t designated for him to do so.

“That car may be street legal, but that parking job is illegal,” remarked one person.

“That’s a no-parking zone,” said another.

“The diagonal white stripes is for paper towel loading only,” joked another.

The car was parked on diagonal white lines and not in a parking space, which was a recipe for disaster in a patrolled area such as his shop of choice… Costco.

DIY vehicles are passion projects for car enthusiasts

Many car enthusiasts are often passionate about building vehicles as well as driving or collecting them.

From small modifications to even whole builds from scratch, lots of auto lovers like to get their hands dirty to achieve their car dreams.

For example, this Californian YouTuber attempted a DIY Miata paint job with zero experience and still managed to get some surprising results.

Plus, another man who found himself at a loose end turned a wrecked Corvette C7 into a flame-throwing ‘Mad Max’ monster because of boredom.

For now, though, take a look at the hand-built, street-legal post below and make up your own mind about the parking situation.
