This man bought a 2021 Tesla Model 3 for just $16,000, and shared the pros and cons of buying on a budget.

Buying on a budget comes with its benefits and its drawbacks, as YouTuber Kobra ToldYa discovered.

His cousin, Charles, picked up a Model 3 for a mere $16,000 and took his viewers through the high points and low points of the car.

The two of them talked over the condition that the EV came in.

The ups and downs of owning a $16,000 2021 Tesla Model 3

The Tesla Model 3 in question was not only cheap, but it had relatively low mileage at 55,000.

“That’s a steal to me,” Kobra gushed, eyeing up his cousin’s car.

Charles ended up buying a Tesla after his previous vehicle was totaled in an accident, as the ‘timing felt right’.

“I drive by gas stations now and I don’t even pay attention to prices,” Charles admitted.

“[Not worrying about gas prices] is probably the best part.”

However, it wasn’t all rosy with this car.

There was a ‘ding’ on the back corner of the car, but it was very hard to spot.

Kobra estimated only 0.5 percent of people would notice it, especially as you’d have to be looking from a certain angle to see it.

There were also some issues with separation on some of the interior parts, including in the door.

And in addition to that, the top end of the steering wheel was peeling.

But all of this was relatively minor.

And again, this was on a Tesla Model 3 bought for $16,000.

There was still a lot to love about it.

“I [like that] it’s quiet, it’s fast,” Charles said.

Buying on a budget – is there always a catch?

Collectively, we humans are a cynical bunch.

If we see something that’s cheap, we assume there has to be a catch somewhere.

This classy ’70s Porsche 911 from Facebook Marketplace certainly came with one.

It was a similar story when this $50,000 Honda Prologue EV went on lease for $99 a month.

We suppose it depends on what kind of drawbacks you’re willing to put up with.
