A man bought used tires from Facebook Marketplace and then took them to Discount Tire to see how good they really were.
American Wyatt bought the rubber and shared them, as well as his trip to Discount Tire, on his TikTok account.
The hope was that they would be in good enough condition to use for some time, while also saving some money.
However, his video showed that the reality from those expectations can be very different, and you might as well buy new to begin with.

The TikTok user doesn’t recommend Facebook Marketplace tires
Wyatt says in his video that the Marketplace seller said there was about 70 percent of the tread left on the tires.
After checking them out, he trusted the seller and decided to make the purchase.
“I look at the tires, and they look good. They don’t really look too bad or nothing,” said Wyatt.
After he bought them, the TikTok user took them to Discount Tires to balance them and get a closer inspection.

However, it was here that the dream purchase started to unravel.
This is what led to him not recommending people buy tires from Facebook Marketplace.
What was wrong with the rubber after a trip to Discount Tire?
Discount Tire said that they couldn’t get the tires balanced.
It transpired there were bulges on the top, and with them spinning, they became imbalanced.
Given that he had spent $500 on them, Wyatt was quite frustrated that he had to buy new ones anyway.
Wyatt issued a warning to those watching his video.
“Please be careful, it’s way too easy to get swiped. Be smart with your money or end up like I am with four unstable tires,” he said.

There will be deals on Marketplace and other auction sites that could see you net a bargain set.
However, unless you take them to be looked at, you have no idea how good the condition really is.
Plus, if they are several years old, they could suddenly fail even if there is plenty of tread.
The moral of the story is to buy new and not risk your safety.
