A British YouTuber bought the UK’s cheapest Tesla Model S for just $6,700, and couldn’t believe that the EV came with free charging for life.
Jonny Smith, host of The Late Brake Show, bought what was at the time the UK’s cheapest Tesla, a Model S P90D that went up for auction at a bargain price.
Costing over $100,000 new, Jonny paid just $6,700 for the car, and incredibly, it came with no crash damage, it worked, and it came with free charging for the rest of its life.
This was all thanks to an incentive put in by Tesla several years ago.

Why did the UK’s cheapest Tesla come with free charging?
After going through the auction, Jonny paid around £5,500 for it, roughly $6,700, and it had 266,000 miles on the clock.
He had gotten his hands on the Performance model, including Insane Mode, with around 200 miles of range.
But it is the free charging forever that made the EV so tempting.

The free charging was an incentive that Tesla ran to get people to buy the cars.
Essentially, buy the car, and you get that charging incentive for life, and it is tied to the car, not the owner.
Thanks to his bargain buy, Jonny now had a cheap Tesla with free electricity for life.
Did the Tesla Model S have any faults?
It turned out that traders were scared of dash warnings stating a fuse needed replacing.
As it transpired, this was quite a minor fault.
Plus, it was one that Jonny and a friend of his knew they could fix.
There were some other issues, too, like the ruined chrome on the wheels and the high mileage.
Yet as Jonny’s video showed, the car was in very good condition.
The most important thing was that it still ran.
Even better, the battery was still in great health, and it had more than enough usable range remaining.
What Jonny and his friend showed was that used EVs should not be something we should be scared of.
Clearly, there are some great deals out there, with the free electricity here being a huge bonus.
