This man bought his first EV – a salvage Tesla Model 3 – and attempted to drive it over 125 miles all the way back home.

It looked like it was in a very poor condition when he first laid eyes on his new Tesla, but despite all the vandalism damage, it still somehow runs.

They set off on their journey back, but the Tesla only had 66 miles of range left. So they urgently needed to find a charging station.

Even though the EV ran, the real question was: Would it make it through all of the 125 miles home?

A roadtrip over 125 miles to pick up a salvage Tesla

Damario Gibbons, AKA YouTube’s Salvage Nation, planned to pick up a Tesla Model 3 that had been unsurprisingly salvaged.

Damario and his cameraman George went to the salvage yard to pick up their new EV.

It’s the first one that either had ever owned.

They were worried that the condition the EV was in meant it wouldn’t start, let alone make the long journey back home.

When they got to the yard and first set eyes on the salvage Tesla, they were surprised by what they saw.

The EV they were faced with was in a surprising condition

Their new Tesla had a missing wing mirror, broken windows, and issues with its bodywork due to vandalism.

The YouTuber and cameraman waited with bated breath to see if the EV would even start.

Despite all the damage, the EV started up fine. So the pair then had to attempt to get the salvage Tesla on the road and back home.

They only had 66 miles of range left and twice that distance left on their journey. So they had to find a Tesla charging station – and fast.

Luckily after they found one, the rest of the journey went off without a hitch.

Having made it over 125 miles home, the YouTuber then replaced the windows and camera components and tested the autopilot system.

He said that once his repairs are complete, he’d raffle it off so that someone else can enjoy his salvage Tesla.
