This excited man finds a Tesla Model S that’s done nearly half a million miles, helping to dispel the EV myth that their batteries don’t last very long.

The British man in Sydney found a Tesla Model S from 2018, and it’s a perfect example of how EVs can be impressive, despite people worrying about battery longevity.

Before it had its first battery replaced, the EV managed a solid 414,000 miles, after which an error code said that the battery had a reduced charging capacity.

Since its new battery was put in, the Tesla has been racking up further miles, proving lots of people wrong and seriously impressing the British man with its pure longevity.

This Tesla Model S has done nearly half a million miles

While this Tesla EV hasn’t quite driven to the moon and back, according to this YouTuber, ‘it’s [like driving] to the moon and you’re re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere, so it’s quite a long way.’

The original owner, who was showing the British YouTuber in Sydney his Model S, said that he never treated his battery any differently from any other product, even charging it multiple times a day.

Despite having a normal charging routine and driving his 2018 Tesla Model S constantly, the EV had covered a whopping 414,000 miles before showing an error code related to reduced charging ability at a low range.

When it came time to change his Model S’ battery, however, it was anything but the end of the road for this Australian EV.

Life after the new battery

Despite its immense track record, the Australian Tesla Model S needed a new battery, so he changed it out, and currently the EV has racked up a further 25,000 miles on top of the 414,000 it has already done.

EV charging infrastructure is improving all over the world, and being able to successfully run a Tesla is becoming easier and easier.

This humble Model S from 2018 has done a lot to dispel the infamous EV myth about longevity and squash some fears about running an EV. And it proves that they last longer than you think with little more than a bit of TLC.
