A hidden corner of an Indianapolis Copart yard revealed an emotional surprise: a Mitsubishi 3000GT and a neglected Ford Probe waiting for a second chance.
That’s how things started in a recent video starring Randy from Auto Auction Rebuilds.
If you’ve watched his channel before, you know exactly where this is going.
A quick walk through rows of wrecked cars suddenly turned into a full-blown trip down nostalgia lane, as what he saw hit close to home.

The Mitsubishi 3000GT was a technological marvel in the ’90s
The Mitsubishi 3000GT stopped him in his tracks first, and honestly, who could blame him?

Twin turbos, active aero, four-wheel steering, the list goes on; Mitsubishi clearly threw everything they had at it.
Randy pointed out the details as he walked around the car, half-amazed, half-bummed at the condition it’s in.

It has seen better days, but even sitting in the Copart lot on flat tires, the presence is undeniable.
Then there’s the Ford Probe, quietly sitting nearby and looking even more forgotten.

Once sleek and forward-thinking, it now wears its neglect openly, with grime and moss telling the story of years spent out of the spotlight.
On the bright side, the car looks much better on the inside, and it’s actually pretty clean and well-maintained.

The Mustang was almost replaced
But what makes the Ford Probe special is actually its history.
This was the car that nearly replaced the Mustang, a front-wheel-drive gamble that split opinion from day one.
Considering how iconic the Mustang turned out to be, you can see why the Ford Probe was such a divisive vehicle.
When seen through today’s lens, the Probe feels less controversial and more misunderstood.

It was an honest product of its era that never quite escaped its reputation.
What made seeing these two together so compelling is how perfectly they capture the 1990s mindset.
Both chased the future in different ways: one through technology overload, and the other through design and efficiency.
Unfortunately, both paid a price, as neither became the timeless hero their carmakers likely hoped for.
At the very least, decades after their debut, they’re still powerful enough to spark real emotion in Randy, so that’s pretty neat.
