A man who snagged a red diamond earring for less than $1 million was left stunned when he discovered its true value.
Musician and film producer Michael Blakey was speaking with jeweler Jacob Arabo when the topic of his earring came up.
Once Arabo got a closer look at it, he dropped a massive bombshell on Blakey.
It’s safe to say that the British musician will be keeping a close eye on the diamond in the future.

Michael Blakey bought a red diamond earring for less than $1 million – the real value stunned him
Michael Blakey had no idea how valuable this red diamond earring was when he bought it.
If it was enough to grab the attention of Jacob Arabo, you know it’d have to be a big deal.
For those who don’t know, Arabo is the founder of Jacob & Company, the international luxury brand.
You may recall that our very own Alex Hirschi, AKA Supercar Blondie, paid a visit to the brand’s vault to see where the billionaires and celebrities shop.
The brand also brought out a $1.5m Bugatti watch, which says all you need to know.

But even that fancy watch couldn’t reach the value of this inconspicuous red diamond earring, which ended up in the ear of Michael Blakey.
In a video that’s done the rounds online, Blakey was sitting next to Arabo when the jeweler asked for a closer look at an earring he was wearing.
Arabo was left flabbergasted, and for good reason.
“There’s no more red diamonds in the world,” Arabo explained.

“I was going to buy one for my client – a square one, one carat….$5 million.
“This is round, so it must be worth more.”
This news nearly knocked Blakey out of his chair in shock, and we can’t say we’re surprised.
Red is the rarest color among diamonds, with their value typically running into the hundreds of thousands per carat.
Their rarity means it’s difficult to find them in large sizes.
So what does that mean for Blakey and his earring?

“You bought it years ago, but you better have it insured because this is $6 million,” Arabo told the 66-year-old musician.
And get this – Blakey paid less than $1 million for it.
Talk about a good investment.
Jewelry doesn’t come cheap, but this is taking things to another level
If you’re rich and want to invest, jewelry is a great way to go.
Let’s face it, we all associate jewelry with wealth, whether it’s a ring, a watch, or a set of earrings.
While it wouldn’t be accurate to say that Blakey got his earring for cheap, he still paid a great price for it.
It’s not quite on the level of this English woman who picked up a diamond ring for $12 at a car boot sale – only to discover it was worth $1.1 million.
Jewelry is expensive, but we can still be taken by surprise.
For all you know, you could have a goldmine sitting in your jewelry box.
We can’t promise it’ll be on the level of Drake’s $1.9 million diamond necklace, but you never know.
