This man was stunned by the charging costs that came with his Tesla Model Y when compared to gas, so he took a photo because he thought nobody would believe him.
YouTuber MyTeslasUK had gone for a charging session, taking it from 374 kWh, with 65 miles of range left, up to 382 kWh and 228 miles of range.
That was a gain of 163 miles, so you’d expect it to be quite pricey, right?
Well, that wasn’t quite the case here.

How much did this Tesla Model Y cost when it came time to charge?
How much did a 163-mile increase cost him in charging?
Only a mere $3.93, or £3 in his native UK.
“Unbelievable,” he told his viewers, as he looked over the bill.
We’ll say.

An increase of 8 kWh cost 41 cents (31p), so that evened out at around $3.25 (£2.48).
The chargers will round up, and that’s how he ended up with the final figure.
But at any rate, this was an absolute bargain when it came to charging.
He noted that home charging prices came out better than the highway Supercharger, where it could be anywhere between 46 and 59 cents (35 to 45p).
It was a big difference from gas cars.
Electric cars are cheaper to run on the whole
This isn’t the first time an EV user has come to the realization that EVs are cheaper to run than their gas counterparts.
It was recently reported that EVs are officially cheaper to run in the UK than gas-powered cars.
The pressing question, of course, is how this compares to the costs incurred by gas-powered cars.

To put it into perspective, the average petrol driver in the UK spends around $990 (£760) a year on fuel.
Under Be.EV’s new plan, an EV driver relying entirely on public charging, would spend roughly $903 (£694).
That’s quite a difference.
More and more EV drivers are realizing what a difference electric vehicles make to their wallets.
