A man waiting impatiently for his Chinese car, the NIO EL8 Executive, decided to fly to China just to watch it being built inside the NIO F2 Factory.
For most buyers, ordering a new vehicle simply means waiting for a phone call from the dealership.
But this enthusiast wanted something far more memorable.
This was why he decided to travel halfway across the world from Norway to witness the birth of his new EV.

The Chinese car was meticulously put together by robots
The journey began at a NIO Space Trondheim in Norway, where the man behind YouTube channel Just Us Travel signed the paperwork for the flagship electric SUV.
The vehicle in question was the NIO EL8 Executive, a premium three-row SUV.

Excited about the purchase, he soon found himself wondering what actually happened behind the scenes after placing the order.
Curiosity eventually won, and before long, he was boarding a flight to the Chinese city of Hefei, home to NIO’s massive production complex.

Once inside the sprawling facility, the scale of the operation quickly became clear.
The F2 factory alone was capable of producing up to 300,000 vehicles per year and could assemble roughly 60 cars per hour.
Inside the plant, hundreds of robotic arms handled most of the heavy lifting, welding aluminum panels together with incredible precision while automated systems moved vehicle bodies between production stages.
The tour offered a rare look at the entire manufacturing process, although NIO isn’t the only company offering one.
First came the body shop, where the aluminum shell of each car was formed and joined together.

From there, unfinished bodies were transported to the paint shop, an enormous section of the facility covering around 77,000 square meters, where vehicles received their color and protective coatings.
After painting, the vehicles moved to final assembly.
Here, robots and technicians worked side by side installing everything from doors and glass roofs to wiring, sensors, and interior components.

The production lines were flexible enough to build several different models at the same time, including the ET5, ET9, and EL8.

The final stage involved rigorous testing
Automated inspection systems checked everything from sensors to electronics, while water spray tests ensured there were no leaks.
Only after passing every check would a car be cleared for delivery.
For the YouTuber, the experience transformed a simple car purchase into a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
And when the day finally arrived to collect the finished NIO EL8 Executive back home, the moment felt even more special.

After all, how many drivers can say they literally saw their car being built from scratch?
