This UK man, who bought a Rolls-Royce as his first car, has now decided to swap out its engine for an LS after claiming that it is ‘bankrupting’ him.

Magnacars – a creator on YouTube – bought a vintage Rolls-Royce for £6,500 ($8,000) as his first car, but it was a short-lived dream.

Despite its name and old-English appearance, the car burnt out and has been sitting in a garage for years.

Now, though, he’s making a huge investment to get it back on the road by ‘bankrupting’ himself into an LS engine swap.

YouTuber ‘bankrupts’ himself by LS swapping his vintage Rolls-Royce

This isn’t quite Rolls-Royce as we know it, given that Supercar Blondie has just showcased her own Mansory-modded Spectre.

Rather, it’s more of a vintage ride that has a lot of miles on the clock.

But Magnacars has quite a way with restorations, having previously gotten his hands dirty with many different cars.

Not without expense, though, just as he found out with his G-Wagen that burnt a hole in his wallet.

This time, he’s pulling out a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow from his garage, after leaving it there for years, and pumping in a new LS engine. It’s clear to see the financial risk and reward he takes.

Adding an LS into an older car isn’t the most straightforward engine swap, just as one man found out with a rare Toyota rebuild.

First off, the Rolls-Royce needed a new accumulator design, which saw the use of a Ford F-350 Hydroboost system, which came into support the brake systems too.

The garage spent two weeks on the engine swap, cutting out exhaust pipes and rewiring nearly the entire car.

But after some very technical and expert modifications, the LS engine was finally mounted, and the Silver Shadow is now a ‘Rol-LS-Royce’.

The car has yet to be fired up, but the YouTuber revealed that he wants the car to be up and running to take to the Driven London Show on May 3.

Swapping in an LS engine is always a risk, but if it turns out anything like the McLaren 650S rebuild, then the YouTuber is onto a winner.
