Man with dream $1.6M Porsche 918 Spyder tests it by driving 1,000 miles to Monaco while his wife flies

This man with a dream $1.6 million Porsche 918 Spyder decided to put it to the ultimate test by driving 1,000 miles to Monaco.

He completed the trip with some other car enthusiasts who drove their supercars beside him.

His wife also joined in on the action, but decided to fly from London to Monaco instead.

The journey took a matter of days and cost a lot of cash, but it was a battle of beauty versus convenience.

This man used his dream Porsche 918 Spyder and drove it 1,000 miles to Monaco

Every gearhead dreams of owning a Porsche, and this YouTuber managed to get his hands on his dream $1.6 million Porsche 918 Spyder.

Tomi Auto decided to put it to the ultimate test and settled on a task of driving it all the way to Monaco on a 1,000-mile road trip.

But, there was a twist, his wife also went on the trip, but she decided to fly from London Heathrow instead.

The first leg of the journey consisted of travelling on the ‘Le Shuttle’ to France and stopping over in Riems, then it was all systems go to Lake Como.

On his journey, he passed through the Swiss Alps and Furka Pass, which proved to be very picturesque.

Tomi praised the car as it took on the epic journey.

“The naturally aspirated V8 engine, it just sings and it feels so responsive,” he explained, as he also praised the hybrid powertrain for adding to the supercar’s emotional impact.

He also decided to test the electric-only mode on the trip, too, down a mountain pass, and thanks to driving downhill, the range actually increased.

The driver passed points such as the Gotthard Tunnel and hit Lake Como before driving onwards to Cannes.

When the Porsche owner and his driving engineer made it to Monaco, Tomi revealed that he had driven over 1,000 miles, crossed three countries, two alpine passes, and 17km underground.

And, whilst it would have been easier to fly instead of driving 1,000 miles, the views and experience were worth the extortionate fuel prices and time spent behind the wheel.

The journey, although impressive, did cost over $3,600, including the costs of gas, tolls, and transporting the cars back, but Tomi said it was well and truly worth it.

It’s no wonder that Tomi chose the 918 Spyder to take on his epic cross-country adventure when driving 1,000 miles.

“The Porsche 918 Spyder combines two electric motors and a V8 combustion engine to create a high-performance hybrid,” explained Porsche itself.

The car company also described the ‘flexible driver concept’ and explained how it ‘allows emission-free driving and impressive racetrack performance’.

Other gearheads are fans of the car, too, such as LeBron James, who was the epitome of cool when he was spotted cruising in his Porsche 918 Spyder in LA.
