Popular YouTuber Marques Brownlee has gotten behind the wheel of the new Xiaomi SU7 and claimed the $42,000 Chinese EV will ‘cook’ everything in the US.

Over in China, Xiaomi has done what Apple couldn’t and transformed from a tech and gadget provider to a car manufacturer.

Not only that, but its fleet of EVs has become wildly popular, and they’re eyeing up taking the brand global.

Now, the Xiaomi SU7 is on its way to Europe, and if it carries on to the US, Brownlee claims we’re ‘cooked’.

Marques Brownlee gets hands-on with a new Chinese EV

In a matter of months, Xiaomi has gone toe-to-toe with giants on both sides of the engineering coin, debuting a new iPhone 17 rival with its new ‘Pro’ mobile, and its fresh EV lineup has overtaken Tesla sales for the first time.

Already being used as a blueprint for upcoming Ferrari models, the Xiaomi SU7 is proving to be one of its most exciting products yet.

Its development is even becoming a tourist attraction.

Now, famous YouTuber Marques Bronlee has gotten hold of one, and it’s safe to say that he’s impressed.

In a new upload on his channel, Brownlee reviewed the SU7 Max.

Set to cost the equivalent of $42,000, the new Chinese EV won’t be available in America due to the mass tariffs, but it’s set to launch in Europe soon.

Boasting roughly 673hp and a range of 320 miles, Brownlee instantly compared it to the Porsche Taycan in style, giving that premium luxury feel with impressive performance.

The Porsche-like Xiaomi SU7 will ‘cook’ the American car industry

The SU7 Ultra – the racing version of the Chinese EV – has already proven its worth against the likes of the Tesla Model S Plaid, and Marques Brownlee thinks that the other manufacturers should be equally as worried.

With an interior that looks like it should be in a $60,000 car, an impressive infotainment module, and a performance that more than warrants its price tag, the Xiaomi SU7 ‘raises the bar’ for what sedans should be like.

“This is a $42,000 car that feels like a $75,000 car if it were made here in the US,” Brownlee said.

“There’s basically no question in my mind that if a car like this were available in the US for $42,000, that it would crush, of course.”

“If they ever came to the US, they would cook everything that we have here.”

The arrival of Chinese EVs might not be too far away from American shores, and it might be only a matter of time before the likes of Xiaomi and BYD continue on their global monopoly.
