Mat Armstrong brought $11,000 in parts to Ferrari to fix a 296 GTB that the manufacturer couldn’t.

The repair process soon spiraled and turned into a $131,000 nightmare.

This YouTuber has had his fair share of challenging rebuilds before.

But would this one be the toughest yet?

This Ferrari 296 GTB needed a lot of work – but could Mat Armstrong fix it?

Mat Armstrong has taken on a lot of different cars in his time on YouTube.

There was the totaled Porsche GT3 RS that he rebuilt to race against other supercars.

He really challenged himself with an Aston Martin DBX that he had bought dirt cheap because it had been submerged underwater.

But it’s not all about the sense of accomplishment – he once spent six months rebuilding a wrecked Ferrari to gift it to his dad.

So he’s got a strong track record.

But would this Ferrari 296 GTB be a step too far?

The car in question had been badly damaged in an accident and was taken to a Ferrari dealer in Cyprus.

However, the quoted price was huge as Ferrari had reportedly never fixed a 296 ‘so badly damaged’.

There was a lot that needed doing – $11,000 in parts, replacing the inner and outer tie-rods, and the bent shock absorber, to name a few.

This would be a full disassembly job.

Things went from bad to worse

When stripping the car, major frame and floor damage was found.

This included a hole in the floor, torn wiring, and damage to the hybrid battery engine area.

To access the structural damage, Armstrong and his team had to rip out the seats, carpets, and interior trim.

By the video’s end, work on the car still wasn’t done, and there was ‘plenty more to do’.
