This Mercedes-Benz Vito van is closing in on 2,000,000km and still going strong.
It’s always pretty remarkable when a car reaches such a significant figure on its odometer.
But this Vito had a lot of eyeballs on it when it was shared in a Facebook group.
And people had one question on their minds.

This Mercedes-Benz Vito van has nearly two million kilometers on the clock – and people have one thing to say about it
Photos of the Vito van in question were shared in a Facebook group called Mileage Impossible.
As the group’s name suggests, it’s full of cars with huge figures on their odometers.
And this offering was no exception to that, with two million kilometers on the clock.
That’s almost as astonishing as the assertion that the car was ‘still one of the most reliable’.

With mileage like that, you’d expect things to be winding down in terms of the vehicle’s inner workings.
And many of Mileage Impossible’s members seemed to be united in their reaction to the van’s mileage.
“Same engine?” one asked.
“How many machines changed?” another remarked.
“Not possible with the first engine,” a third member asserted.
We can’t say either way the Vito’s engine situation is.
But either way, a two-million-kilometer mileage is commendable.
After all, what are cars there for if not to be driven?

These cars have gone the extra mile – by about a million or so
We’ve seen cars with millions on their clocks before.
Did you know that two out of the top three with the highest mileage are Volvos?
The top spot is held by Irving Gordon, who set a world record for the highest mileage by a single owner in a non-commercial vehicle.
Another high-ranking car was the 1976 Mercedes 240D, with two million miles on the clock from years as a taxi.
As impressive as it can be to own the car with the most miles on it, this type of use does pose a risk to the car itself.
The engine, in particular, can suffer.
But proper maintenance certainly helps – and perhaps that’s the case with the Vito van.
