This is the new Mercedes Concept AMG GT XX, the brand’s first all-electric supercar.
The true successor to the AMG GT, even though this is just a concept, the new supercar packs 1,340bhp.
It is also the fastest AMG vehicle ever made.
And there’s something else worth pointing out.

The AMG GT XX is Mercedes’ first all-electric supercar, with a catch
Unveiled as a concept vehicle that previews Mercedes-AMG’s new flagship supercar, the AMG GT XX is a four-door sedan designed to compete with the Porsche Taycan, which is still the benchmark in this particular category.
We could get away with calling it the Mercedes’ first-ever all-electric supercar, but only just.
In 2013, Mercedes unveiled the SLS AMG Electric Drive, but the key difference is while that was a little more than a experiment, this is a glimpse into Mercedes’ future.
According to Mercedes, the AMG GT XX is capable of 223mph, or 358km/h.

Visually, we’re looking at a streamlined sedan that looks halfway between a couple and a sedan with a hint of muscle car.
At the front, the reference and homage to the iconic C111 (and the One-Eleven concept) is clear.

At the back, the Mercedes Concept AMG GT XX features something called the MBUX Fluid Light panel, which comprises 700 LEDs and can be used for everything from alerting pedestrians to showing you how much charge you car has.
As per usual, the production model will probably have to ditch some of the concept’s most exotic and extreme design features.
But, with a bit of luck, the final version will look more or less like the concept.
And, again with a bit of luck, it’ll use the new battery pack with 1,000 miles of range that Mercedes has been testing for a while.

A new era for Mercedes
Not long ago, Mercedes rebranded by splitting its line-up in four branches.
You had EQ for the EVs, Maybach for ultra-luxury stuff, AMG for high-performance cars and then regular Mercedes-Benz for everything else.
That system didn’t really work and Mercedes decided to simplify the whole thing and went back to a more understandable system.
This, in turn, also means new AMG models can be electric.
And this is the first one.

Mercedes is gradually electrifying its cars, but the market wants what the market wants which, for example, is the reason why it’s bringing back the V8 for some performance models.
Because the four-cylinder with the extra power wasn’t selling that well.
As for this new vehicle, it’ll have to compete with luxury EV sedans, but it’ll like also rival equivalent internal combustion vehicles.
