A Saudi billionaire’s superyacht captain has joined forces with Mercedes for a Maybach megayacht that measures out at a whopping 508 feet.

Matthias Bosse is one of the co-founders of Splendid Sea, having spent years as captain of Nasser Al-Rashid’s superyacht.

In partnership with Mercedes-Maybach, the company unveiled an incredible cruising concept at this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

This is where the Maybach Ocean Club comes into the picture.

Maybach megayacht is a collaboration between Mercedes and a superyacht captain

The idea behind the Maybach Ocean Club is that it would make yachting more accessible to a younger generation.

They wanted to present young people with the yachting lifestyle, without all the strings that come with ownership – maintenance bills, management, etc.

The Maybach Ocean Club centers around a members’ club model pertaining to an ultra-luxury vessel called Beyond Horizons and its 230-foot shadow vessel.

That shadow vessel would carry water toys and technical staff.

Members of this club would each be entitled to four weeks on board the Beyond Horizons.

Beyond Horizons contains 30 identical residential-style suites, each 74 square meters big and with their own balconies.

Each one is of equal size to create a sense of fairness among the club members.

“We didn’t want categories,” Bosse said.

“No master suite upstairs and tiny cabins below. All 30 suites are equal.”

Serviced by a crew of between 80 and 85, the boat has a lot to offer through the club’s membership – from watersports to wellness.

Or even if you just want to flex on social media that you’re on a megayacht, without all those megayacht responsibilities.

Taking a closer look at Beyond Horizons

When fully occupied, Beyond Horizons can carry 72 guests, LuxuryLaunches reported.

It sounds pretty dreamy, doesn’t it?

Being able to hop onto a megayacht with relatively little hassle and lap up the sun beside an infinity pool.

But that begs the question…how much will an annual fee for Maybach Ocean Club membership cost each person?

An exact figure hasn’t been disclosed, but it has been reported that members will be required to ‘pay an annual fee of roughly five percent of the initial investment’.

This is intended to cover crew management, fuel, port fees, insurance, and ongoing maintenance.

It sounds like a pretty awesome set-up to us.

Fancy yacht living will no longer be reserved for the Mark Zuckerbergs and Jeff Bezos’ of the world.
