The owner of this Mercedes forgot where he parked his car and it was impounded and sold for $1,500.

Ed Bolian, a YouTuber, bought the car from the guy who got it after the authorities seized it.

The 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL 500 had been parked by its original owner and left for so long that it had been deemed abandoned.

Authorities then sold it to someone who had plans to fix it up, but Bolian became the owner in the end.

The impounded Mercedes that wound up being sold for $1,500

When Bolian first spotted the car on Facebook Marketplace, he knew he couldn’t pass it up.

And, after putting in an offer of $1,500, he secured it and headed down to Georgia to pick it up.

This isn’t the first time that a great car bargain has been secured through Marketplace – just look at this guy who found a Toyota Corolla on there.

The guy hawking it online bought it from the local authorities with plans to fix it, but that process stopped midway for some reason.

So, suffice it to say, by the time Bolian made it to the Peach State, things weren’t looking so good.

Cracks lined the bumper, the front grille was unaccounted for, and the battery was dead.

Even the key wasn’t looking too sharp – literally, the blade was missing.

From the looks of things, it must have been parked with its roof down for a while.

The interior also looks pretty shabby, with the white leather seats having greyed and ripped.

Substantial water damage also occurred inside, with the floor mats bearing the brunt.

So all in all, this Mercedes has seen better days.

But much like this dusty $400,000 Mercedes left in a Hungarian barn, there is hope.

Well, we hope there is.

The SL 500 in its heyday

It’s a sad state of affairs, because this car used to be quite fetching when it was first released.

Its V8 was capable of 302HP and 339Ib-ft of torque, and the car could reach 60mph in a solid 6.3 seconds.

But this soggy sad sack – which once boasted a top speed of 155mph – hasn’t been doing much speeding these days.

Hopefully, Bolian will soon be able to whip it into shape.

Abandoned cars are a risky investment, as was this car collection in LA.

You really need to know what you’re doing if you take one on as a restoration project.
