Blind spots have to be one of the most stressful elements of driving, but this simple mirror trick will eliminate them completely.

Anyone who remembers their driving lessons will know the importance placed on checking your blind spots.

Nowadays, many cars have features which almost eliminate the need to check bind spots.

But the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) had a tip on increased visibility that didn’t require any cameras or fancy tech.

Want an easier way to check your blind spots? The SAE has the solution for you

This tip comes to us back from a paper the SAE published way back in 1995.

In this paper, the group advocated for drivers to adjust their side mirrors so far outwards that the driver is essentially looking at the lanes next to theirs.

This can understandably be disorienting for drivers who are used to seeing the sides of their cars in these mirrors.

But when done correctly, this can eliminate a car’s blind spot and make a driver’s life a lot easier.

No more looking over your shoulder and potentially giving yourself a stiff neck.

And no need for all the fancy camera systems – though admittedly, a lot of cars come with that feature anyway these days.

This mirror trick is 30 years old, but it’d still help out a pinch for people who like to keep it old school.

It’s not the first time – and it certainly won’t be the last time either – that somebody has dispensed some advice on eliminating blind spots.

A 14-year-old girl had her own method, involving something she’d invented herself.

We all love a car hack, don’t we?

As much time as people driving in their cars, there’s still a lot left to learn.

Every day is a school day, right?

Plenty of tips and tricks have circulated in the automotive sphere, from the AA’s advice on how to stop your car from freezing overnight to guidance on how often you should get maintenance work done.

And if you ever wanted to know the proper way to jump-start your car, this McLaren F1 mechanic has you covered.
