This British manufacturer is aiming high right now, just over a year from the launch of the Supersport range, with Morgan’s most powerful car putting the mighty Porsche in its sights.
Sitting at the top of the range is the new Supersport 400, which sees a big increase in power compared to the rest of the lineup.
The British company wants to show the Germans what they can do, and as well as impressive power, the Supersport 400 has a price tag to match the competition.
On paper, then, this is the most impressive car that the British company has ever produced.
How Morgan’s most powerful car has worried its rivals
Upon closer look at the spec sheet, it’s the power figure that will most trouble the car’s rivals.
The Supersport 400 has an enhanced 3.0-liter BMW B58 O1 straight-six engine under the hood.
That engine has seen a sizeable increase in power over the regular model.

It now produces 402hp and 369lb-ft of torque.
That represents a 67hp increase over the regular version of the car, and it’s the first production Morgan to produce more than 400hp.
“From the outset, our aim has been to create a vehicle that is sharper and more deliberate,” said Morgan boss Matt Hole
Don’t be fooled into thinking this car is only about straight-line performance, however.

Each Supersport 400 comes standard with the Dynamic Handling Pack.
Both axles have Nitron dampers and a revised suspension geometry to improve the car’s handling.
That is another Porsche trait that the new British car is targeting.

As well as the mechanical changes, the car has also had a ‘glow-up’.
Gloss contrasting lower bodywork complements the rest of the exterior very nicely.
New vents are visible in the front wings, which not only look good, but are functional as well.

“The 400 is the purest expression of Supersport,” said Hole.
Like other Morgans, much of the design is handcrafted, giving it an extra level of luxury.
The cabin looks to be a pleasing space to be in, with analogue dials but a distinctly modern feel.
Alcantara seats ensure the ride is as comfortable as possible.
Pricing for Morgan’s most powerful car starts at around $182,670.
