A mystery Ferrari client was so important that a unique, one-of-one, shape-shifting gold-mirrored hypercar, the Ferrari KC23, was built just for him and named after him.

The car is the spectacular KC23, based on one of Maranello’s existing models but with unique bodywork and interior.

This mysterious car made its public debut at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, instantly capturing the public’s imagination with its striking design.

The name of the hypercar also uses the initials of the man who ordered it, and you have to be pretty important to have a Ferrari bear your name.

What did the mystery Ferrari client order?

The Ferrari KC23 is based on the 488 GT3, with a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 under the hood packing at least 600hp.

The 488 GT3 is the racing version of the 488, making this hypercar a track-bred machine.

Inside, its racing credentials are evident, with all the controls and the steering wheel from the race car.

This includes the myriad of buttons on the center console and the digital dashboard that includes laptimes.

However, it’s the exterior design that makes this such a special car.

The design work for the car was completed by the company’s Special Projects division.

What they created is one of the most dramatic-looking hypercars of modern times.

The custom Ferrari KC23 is finished in gold

The exterior of the hypercar is finished in Gold Mercury, with liquid metal embedded into the paintwork.

Maranello used four layers of paintwork, giving the KC23 its stunning mirror-like finish.

The owner of the car was said to be inspired by the Ferrari 499P that won Le Mans and the Vision Gran Turismo concept.

In 2023, the car made its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Following this, it moved to Italy and now resides in the Ferrari Museum at Maranello.

Its billionaire owner remains a mystery, but the ‘KC’ part of its name takes its initials from that owner.

All Maranello has revealed is that it was commissioned by one of its most devoted customers and collectors.

Some believe the car belongs to former IndyCar driver and American real-estate investor Kevin Cogan.

However, that has never been confirmed, so the KC23’s owner remains a mystery Ferrari client.
