A new version of the all-electric Mercedes CLA has been launched in China, and it costs just $36,000 and comes with an impressive range.

The original CLA went on sale back in April 2013.

Now in its third-generation, the Mercedes CLA L EV has been introduced in China.

The car has a surprisingly affordable price tag and comes with a range of over 530 miles.

What to expect from the Mercedes CLA L EV

The 2026 Mercedes CLA was unveiled back in March, and now in China it has been joined by the CLA Long-Wheelbase – or CLA L EV.

As the name suggests, the car is a little longer than the standard model, measuring around 188 inches long with a 111 wheelbase, around 1.5 inches longer than the standard.

It is powered by a 85 kWh battery pack, which offers a whopping 538 miles of range between charges.

On the subject of chargers, the CLA L’s 800V platform means you can up to 200 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

Impressive stuff.

The new model looks more or less the same as the original model, featuring an illuminated three-point star and a slick redesigned front grille.

Inside you’ll find a 10.25 inch driver’s display as well as a 14.6 inch infotainment screen.

There’s also an optional 14 inch passenger entertainment screen.

Much like the standard CLA, the CLA L features its next-generation L2 Intelligent Driving System.

It also has the Mercedes-Benz MB.OS operating system, which the carmaker says makes it ‘the most intelligent Mercedes-Benz ever’.

The new system comes with an AI-powered virtual voice assistant, and a handful of other interactive features.

Is the new car available in the US?

The new model will be available in two versions: the CLA L Ultra-Long Range Edition, starting from $36,000, and an Intelligent Edition, which costs $42,000.

Pre-orders for the CLA L are open now, but the car isn’t for sale in the United States.

The CLA L EV was made specifically for the Chinese market, and the car itself was built in China.
