The owner of a new Tesla Model Y Performance has shared his honest thoughts after driving his new EV and admitted that it ‘doesn’t feel real’.
Tesla introduced its Model Y in 2020, and by 2023, it was the world’s best-selling vehicle.
With more than two million units now delivered, it’s also the most popular EV of all time.
And one new owner has recently branded it the ‘best car’ he’s ever owned.

In recent months, we’ve seen plenty of folks who have made the switch from a gas-powered vehicle to an EV sing the praises of their new cars.
Many of those who are pleased with the switch have noted the savings they’ve made, whether they own a Ford Mustang Mach-E, a Kia EV9, or a Tesla Model 3.

Now, a Reddit user who managed to get a Tesla Model Y Performance on ‘clearance’ has shared his thoughts on his new car – and it’s not just the price that impressed him.
In a post from a couple of months back, he explained that he was able to snap up the vehicle for ‘$35,770 with tax credit, dealer discount and referral bonus’, which is a great price for a new Model Y Performance.
But that wasn’t the only thing he loved about the EV.
He went on to say that over the years, he’s owned 43 cars, including Corvettes and Mustangs, but said the Tesla Model Y is the ‘best car’ he’s ever owned. High praise indeed.
“This one is so smooth, quiet, and so fast,” he wrote.
“But the best daily out of the bunch. I certainly enjoyed my Z06s but this car does it all so well and so cheap to operate.

‘FSD (Full-Self Drive) is amazing. Have had cars with lane keep assist, but FSD blows it out of the water.
“I’m in love.”
In a follow-up comment on this original post, he said it ‘still doesn’t feel real’ when he gets into his new EV before once again declaring it the ‘best driving experience ever’.
So, we think it’s safe to say that he’s a fan of the Tesla Model Y Performance.
