Just three minutes after sales went live, the new Xiaomi EV – the YU7 – has sold a blistering 200,000 units as the Chinese ‘Tesla killer’ lives up to its nickname.
The Chinese EV game is advancing at such lightning speeds that it’s a wonder the supply can keep up with the demand.
But if we thought people were already well-stocked on EVs, Xiaomi has just proved that there is a wild hunger for the new vehicles.
The new Xiaomi EV is the second to leave its majestic factory floor, and it’s selling fast.

New Xiaomi EV racks up 200,000 orders in just three minutes
Slated as the ‘Tesla killer’, the Xiaomi YU7 is an EV that is expected to rock the industry, even if it is slightly unconventional in its appearance.
The Chinese company has already proven to have a great track record, with its $30,000 SU7 having left people astonished.
Now, the new Xiaomi EV is here, and the YU7 is proving to be a smash hit.
The Chinese manufacturers claimed that 200,000 deposits were placed on the Xiaomi YU7 in the first three minutes of the sale.

The figures continued to rise to 289,000 within an hour, showing just how popular the car already is.
CEO Lei Jun did admit that many of these orders, especially the earliest ones, have been made by scalpers, with hundreds of the cars appearing on the second-hand platform Xianyu moments later.
To combat the scalping, the limit on the number of units available per person is being set at two.
Thankfully, the factory is no stranger to spinning out countless models, having forged an assembly line that produces one of the cars every 76 seconds.
Xiaomi YU7 continues Chinese EVs overtaking momentum
The popularity of the new Xiaomi EV is not all that surprising, knowing that its Chinese competitors have already proven to be some of the most popular carmakers in the world.
BYD has overtaken Tesla as the biggest EV distributor in Europe and the UK, and they aren’t slowing down.

The Chinese car monopoly could soon be upon us all too, as nearly all American auto executives have tipped the EVs from Xiaomi and BYD to land in the US soon.
But for now, the Xiaomi YU7 will be rocking its way around China, Europe, and the rest of the world in mass supply. The Tesla killer is really out for blood.
