A New York woman suffered a cracked windshield on her rental car after a rock hit it, but a $20 repair kit came to her rescue.

Having shared the video on her TikTok account, Kat Loissa revealed that the rock had left some minor damage on the car, but she would get charged for it at the rental company.

That left her with the choice of either enduring the charge or potentially getting the problem rectified.

A $20 repair kit came to her rescue and allowed her to avoid the fine.

How did the windshield of the rental car get damaged?

In the video, Kat explained how the windshield was damaged on the rental car.

At the start of the TikTok video, she said that a rock hit the windshield while they were on the freeway.

Kat then said she would ‘try to fix it,’ and thus the process of doing so began.

The New Yorker removed excess glass and debris from the crack before she wiped the area clean with an alcohol pad.

Kat then placed a red sticker around the crack before removing the top layer.

A small grey funnel was then put over the sticker.

The hole was filled with resin until it was visible at the top.

The cheap repair proved to be very effective.

A syringe extracted air bubbles from the resin, which took around 20 minutes.

Air was then pushed back into the hole for 10 minutes, before it was removed carefully along with the stickers.

Kat said to use more resin if there are any more cracks before placing a clear cover over it for 15 minutes.

Once she’d cleaned the area and removed the excess resin, the repaired windshield looked as good as new.

Some, however, commented on the video to express concerns.

There were some who said that while the crack is now filled in, the windshield is still structurally weaker.

Another user said they once worked for a rental company and claimed this is what they would have done anyway.

What would you have done with a cracked windshield in this situation?
