- The Nissan N7 EV set a new record in China
- Part of the reason is the incredibly low price

The Nissan N7 EV just set a sales record in China.
Nissan built this car specifically for China, and the strategy worked.
It’s electric, which is par for the course these days, and it’s a lot less expensive than people think.
But there’s some bad news as well.

Nissan, like so many other automakers, is shifting its focus and prioritizing the market in China.
The new Nissan N7 EV, for example, was designed specifically for the Chinese market.
But Nissan isn’t the only marque aiming for the Chinese market – this BMW M4 Nürburgring edition reaches 524HP and will only be available there.
This strategy clearly worked, because people came flocking and responded by opening up their wallets.

As a result, the Japanese automaker set a sales record with 10,000 orders in just 18 days.
For the sake of accuracy, the company said this is a record for a joint venture electric car, which is further proof that if you narrow it down enough, anything can be a record.
It’s still a great result, though.

The N7 EV was also built to compete with vehicles like the Tesla Model 3 and the Xiaomi SU7, even though it’s closer in size to the Tesla Model S or the Porsche Taycan.
There are two versions, and both are electric.
You can opt for the base model, which comes with 335 miles (540KM) of range, or the model with a bigger battery, which offers 388 miles (625KM).
It’s also fitted with something called ‘Momenta’s smart driving system’, which is basically the N7’s answer to Tesla’s FSD/Autopilot.

Part of the reason it sold so well is that it’s cheap.
It starts at just $16,500, and even the range-topping model starts at just $20,500.
The bad news is this was designed exclusively for China and, for now at least, it’s not going to be available anywhere else.
