For most, the Porsche Boxster is a fantastic car. But for this Pennsylvanian garage, it’s a canvas, primed to be built into their own creation: a one-of-a-kind, ’60s supercar.

Supercars take years and thousands of hours of manpower to create.

Even the greatest minds at Ferrari and Bugatti mull over designs for half a decade before their thoughts transform into a 1,000hp reality.

This subtle Pennsylvania garage is trying to prove that it’s not the size of the factory that matters, but rather the motion of the ocean, as they are crafting their own ’60s supercar on the chassis of a junkyard Boxster.

This Porsche Boxster is getting the ’60s treatment as a custom supercar

The Boxster range, as we know it, is on its last run out with its beating flat-six heart, with the transition to electric claiming another iconic scalp.

But over the years, the low-riding sports car has made dreams come true, and it’s even been used as the blueprint for designers to make their own supercars.

That’s the spirit harnessed over at Crucible Coachworks, as the experienced custom car makers have been using the Boxster as the basis to create their own supercar.

But it’s coming with a vintage ’60s twist.

This is the ‘Project Jigsaw’.

Well, in this state, it doesn’t look like much. But already, the custom aluminum bodywork has started to take shape.

Using the Porsche Boxster chassis and the metal bars to frame the custom design, the garage has warped metal sheets over the canvas to create its body.

So far, the custom car is going through the final parts of the bodywork, before preparing for a ‘Mexico blue’ paint job.

But how far will they take this Porsche Boxster 60s supercar?

Swinging ’60s

The idea is to have a car inspired by the 1960s icons, such as the Lamborghini Miura and the Ford GT40, with a V8 turbocharged engine powering a pop-top convertible.

The mid-engine supercar is supposed to prove that average enthusiasts can do wonders with a limited budget, time, and effort.

So far, Crucible Coachworks has showcased 70 episodes of its step-by-step build, where it has inched forward in a painstaking process.

But every handcrafted moment has been caught on camera, and while it’s not an overnight result, the attention to detail is admirable.

Given that Porsche already produces some incredible custom throwback cars, you can bet this project will differ from what the brand has ever made before.
