There’s something special about this one-of-a-kind Mazda Miata that got a special mod after the owner spent seven years and 3,000 hours on it.
When most people think of the ‘Mazda Miata,’ they picture a lightweight little roadster with pop-up headlights and a surprising popularity and cult following.
However, one guy decided that the praise it already got wasn’t good enough, and put seven years of his life into modifying his.
What he created was a futuristic GT coupe that looked quirky and different, while still keeping the spirit of the world’s favorite roadster alive.

This one-of-a-kind Mazda Miata got a very special mod
Like all good projects, this one started with a stock car and a dream. The dream was to create a design like nothing that had ever been seen before, without any aftermarket kit or factory pieces.
Enter the plucky Mazda Miata, but rather than bolting on a widebody like a lot of mods, the owner built everything from scratch, completely avoiding off-the-shelf car pieces.
Over seven years, the car’s owner reworked the Miata’s panels, reshaped its proportions, and painstakingly integrated the new bodywork to flow naturally with the chassis.
The entire original shape and silhouette changed: it was longer, wider, and more aggressive, and somehow smoother and more streamlined, but the Mazda Miata MX-5 still lived on underneath.

The owner spent seven years and 3,000 hours on it
3,000 hours of work went into the unique widebody Miata, which meant spending every single weekend on it for almost a decade.
Each curve, joint, and panel had to be built and redone until it fit the vibe of the widebody perfectly.
Some stages took months alone, especially things like sculpting the fenders and aligning the custom front and rear ends.
While it is still a Miata in its soul, it looks like some kind of European sports car. And the fact that you can’t quite tell what it is makes it truly special.
