This Oregon man refused to give up on his 1.5-million-mile 1997 Dodge Ram, despite it going through three engines and 12 transmissions.

Gary bought the truck back when it was new, 28 years ago.

Despite racking up more than one million miles and going through several upgrades, he’s still stood by this Ram 3500.

This truck has been put through its paces, but it’s held up remarkably well.

This 1997 Dodge Ram had 1.5 million miles on the clock

In the years since buying the Ram, Gary has put it to work, towing boats, RVs, and trailers.

Appearing on his YouTube channel, Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk, he opened up about his time as the truck’s owner.

In the 28 years since he picked up the truck, it’s gone through two Cummins diesel swaps.

That’s not counting an additional rebuild of the original Cummins from the factory.

The one that sits in the truck currently has 500,000 miles on it.

Gary said that he put 12 different NV4500 transmissions into it before he learned how to drop a G56 six-speed transmission.

On the whole, the truck looks great – and Gary has no intentions of parting ways with it anytime soon.

If he got a good 28 years out of it already, why not go for 28 more?

And yes, that is a Ram 5500 badge on the side of the truck – it’s a joke.

Other vehicles with big figures on the odometers

Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of people lay claim to some impressive distance records.

After all, if you’re going to have a car, you may as well get a lot of mileage out of it, right?

There was a Greek taxi driver who drove three million miles over the course of 23 years, the same number that Irv Gordon put on his Volvo P1800S.

Another man hit 1,000,000 miles in his 2003 Honda Accord V-6, working as a medical courier.

As of yet, there’s no word on how many engines these vehicles went through.
