The owner of a personalized license plate in the United Kingdom has turned down some pretty serious offers for it, including one of a staggering £10,000,000 ($12.4 million).

Entrepreneur Afzal Khan’s plate simply reads F1 – and he bought it for an already expensive £500,000 over a decade ago.

Mr Khan did this as an homage to Formula 1 Grand Prix racing.

Despite the vast sums of money he has been offered, Mr Khan has consistently refused to sell the plate.

The F1 license plate is a big attraction wherever Mr Khan goes

At the time of writing, the plate had moved around a few of his cars and is currently registered to his Bugatti Veyron SuperSport.

Mr Khan is a designer of luxury cars who regularly posts images of his collection on his Instagram page.

As you might expect, the F1 license plate has been featured a few times.

He says that wherever he drives, it is a significant attraction. It’s well-known just how valuable and sought-after the F1 plate is.

Mr Khan bought the plate from Essex Council in 2008, and the council will likely regret the sale over 15 years on.

The council had owned it for a remarkable 104 years, well before the Formula 1 World Championship was created in 1950.

Mr Khan has over sixty unique personalized license plates

The F1 plate isn’t the only one that Mr Khan owns.

The businessman has over sixty unique license plates registered, and these range from 1 NVV to the K4 AHN.

For the last Royal Wedding, Mr Khan also placed 4HRH on a four-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz to mark the occasion.

Not long after that, he received an offer for over $1 million for that plate.

The businessman and automotive enthusiast is a firm believer that custom license plates can drastically improve a car, even if the vehicle in question is rubbish.

The thought of seeing the F1 plate on a car such as a Fiat Multipla, a Chevrolet SSR, or even a terrible muscle car like the 1982 Dodge Challenger is undoubtedly amusing.

Should Mr Khan ever sell the plate, its high value could even set some new world records.
