Showcasing yet another prime example of how to flip cars for profit, this popular YouTube personality was left stunned after he managed to get a $90,000 Cadillac Escalade for just a fraction of its original value.

Cars depreciate; there’s no denying that, unless you keep them bubble-wrapped for generations and time-capsule them as mint, vintage, showroom-ready exhibits.

But after 10 years on the road, this Cadillac Escalade had lost nearly all of its value, with the $90,000 car now only being valued at $9,450.

One person has taken a gamble on the ‘cheapest Cadillac Escalade’ out there and was blown away by how fixable it was.

How this Cadillac Escalade tanked 90 percent of its value

Of course, inheriting secondhand cars means you’re also inheriting secondhand problems, and that’s why the used cars can be bought so cheaply.

In the case of YouTuber Flying Wheels, he found this Cadillac Escalade at auction, which promised to have all sorts of secrets hidden under the hood.

At first inspection, the car actually appeared to be in better condition than its value suggested, with only the usual decade-long wear and tear signs showing, such as scuffed bodywork, worn tires, and flaking brake pads.

“The car needs tires. You can see the brake dust all over the rear wheel,” he said.

But there were some further issues.

“There’s a nice big mark across the back quarter panel. It has a stability track, an ABS light, a brake light, and a traction control light on the dash.

“And when I hit the brake pedal, it goes straight to the floor.”

He continued: “There’s a good chance that this car either has a bad transmission, a cam issue, a displacement on demand issue, or a cylinder 3 misfire.

“But at the price point, $9,000, it’s worth a gamble for me.”

The cheap restoration showcases how quickly you can flip cars for profit

Straight off the bat, the YouTuber set out to fix the major repairs.

Using spare parts he had leftover from previous rebuilds, he replaced the brake booster, master cylinder, calipers, rotors, and pads, which immediately made this a safe drive again.

Then, with an extensive detailing job, the Cadillac Escalade looked pretty again, smiling with those shiny silver teeth in its grille.

He revealed that the restoration only cost him $1,150, taking the total expenditure to $10,600.

So, how much profit could he make?

Well, the Cadillac Escalade has yet to be sold, with the creator debating its future.

However, if he were to sell it, he revealed that a price of $16,500 would comfortably sell, and it would go on to drive thousands of miles with a new bottom on the driver’s seat.

“This for $9,500 was a no-brainer… If you get a score like this one, you hit the jackpot,” he concluded.

“And when you make four grand, it helps make up for the losses on something else that I bought that might have a bad transmission.”
