This passenger filmed his entire Concorde journey from check-in to touchdown, and he even managed to capture the sound barrier wave on camera.

It was an aircraft that was famed for its sheer speed, with passengers able to get from London to New York in just under three hours.

Now, though, footage has come to light of a man who documented his entire journey from arriving at the airport and even landing across the pond.

Plus, you can even see the sound barrier wave passing through the cabin.

This Concorde journey involved seeing the sound barrier wave

It’s no secret that the Concorde is one of the most famous jets in the world, thanks to its record-breaking speeds on journeys across the Atlantic Ocean.

Passengers traveled in speed and style as they broke the sound barrier while being served champagne and caviar in the air.

But have you ever wondered what it’s really like to experience travelling on board Concorde from start to finish?

Well, one YouTuber creator, J Kevin Brady, Exciting Supersonic Concorde Flight filmed his experience first hand in 2002 when he flew from London Heathrow to New York JFK.

After checking it at the arrivals desk, he then showed what the inside of the plane was really like, with the cabin appearing to be narrow.

The creator showed how there was a Mach meter and light-up signs showing both altitude and speed in miles per hour, too.

But, the most impressive part of the journey wasn’t the interior or even the landing; it was the sign of the sound barrier wave that passed through the cabin.

“At the seven-minute mark, a shadow moves quickly through the plane – it’s a reflection of the sound wave with the plane catching up,” the YouTube creator noted in the caption of his journey.

He wasn’t wrong either, as, alongside cruising at hundreds of miles per hour and watching the clouds briskly pass by, the sound barrier wave shadow echoed through the cabin on his journey.

The passenger showed his luxurious trip in detail, and aviation fans couldn’t get enough as the 23-year-old footage unraveled.

Concorde’s legacy lives on

Even decades after the plane stopped operating, aviation fans are fascinated by facts and figures about the plane’s supersonic flights.

For example, one former Concorde pilot said flying the jet was like ‘a bus driver being given a Ferrari to go and play with’.

Plus, retro footage shows Concorde touching down at a tiny British airport in 1999 with a beautiful landing.
