Ford CEO Jim Farley is, of course, a very famous man in his own right.

Serving as CEO of one of the world’s most iconic car companies tends to have that effect.

But have you ever looked at Jim Farley and thought – ‘he looks really familiar?’

Ford CEO Jim Farley is related to comedic royalty

Ford CEO Jim Farley is one of the most famous people in the entire car industry.

Farley has been instrumental in steering Ford into the next generation.

His focus on incorporating EVs into the existing line-up has seen Ford well-positioned for the future.

In fact, the current Ford CEO has promised a ‘Model T moment‘ with the release of a new EV.

But did you know that Jim Farley has a very famous relative within his family?

For people of a certain age, it might have already clicked who it is we are talking about.

In case it hasn’t, allow us to explain who it is we are referencing.

Sitting down for an interview with the Detroit News, Jim Farley opened up about his cousin – Chris Farley.

In typical Chris Farley fashion, Jim has hundreds of stories and anecdotes about his cousin, some of which aren’t exactly PG-friendly.

The Ford CEO describes his cousin as being like ‘a fifth drawer that I rarely open’.

“Chris always got in trouble, but it was innocent,” the Ford CEO fondly remembers.

Farley remembers that Chris had a habit of crashing family cars and blaming deer for jumping into the road, even if that was never the case.

Ford CEO Jim Farley was actually born in Buenos Aires and Chris Farley was the son of his father’s brother.

And the Ford CEO fondly recalls family reunions in Madison, Wisconsin.

“We have a pretty typical Irish family. Lots of emotions, competition, and booze,” he says. “So it all made for lively reunions.”

Chris Farley – comedic genius in a life cut tragically short

Unlike Jim, who was always destined for a serious career in the auto industry, Chris was very different.

Despite being a gifted athlete, Chris Farley struggled with traditional schooling.

He got kicked out of school at Marquette University and got fired from his job as a lifeguard.

But Chris had one gift above everything else – he was exceptionally funny.

In 1990, Chris Farley moved to New York and began a legendary career on Saturday Night Live.

Chris Farley quickly became one of the best stars in the history of SNL, which led to a very successful Hollywood career.

Unfortunately, the success and the joy came with an incredible amount of personal pressure.

Because of his status as a comedy star, Chris Farley constantly felt the pressure to be spontaneously funny all the time.

And he sadly turned to alcohol and drug abuse in an attempt to cope with the pressure and the fame.

He tragically died from a drug overdose on December 18th, 1997, aged just 33.

Chris Farley remains much beloved and strongly remembered, especially by his family.

And Ford CEO Jim Farley carries on the family name by succeeding at the very top of the world.
