Social media users were convinced that they spotted an incredibly rare American sports car during a TikTok tour of an empty property, but then the truth was revealed.
TikTok user Jered Jones Homes, or @jeredjoneshomes as he’s known on the platform, was showcasing a ‘majestic trash hole’ in Las Vegas.
In the clip, he took a tour around the house and explained why he thought it was a good buy with untapped potential.
However, his followers couldn’t help but notice what looked like a super rare American sports car tucked away on the property.

People thought they had spied a very rare American sports car
People unearth all sorts of hidden gems while filming in and around empty and abandoned properties, like this man who found an old drag racer and a hovercar, or this one who discovered a AC 3000ME hidden under a sheet.
That’s what followers thought was the case when Jered stumbled across this abandoned car.

The poor old car had clearly seen better days and appeared to have an entire tree growing through it.
Despite the car’s less-than-ideal condition, Jered’s followers urged him to return to the property after spotting what they thought was a super rare Bill Thomas Cheetah.
“Dude, that’s a 1964 Bill Thomas Cheetah sports car,” one commenter wrote.
“Go back to it please. If it’s real, there were only 21 ever made. Go back.”
The rare American sports car was in production for just three years, between 1963 and 1966 and was developed to be a competitor to the Shelby Cobra.
There are no official records documenting final production numbers for the Bill Thomas Cheetah, but its estimated to be around 23.
So, finding one out in the wild is about as rare as you can imagine.
But the truth revealed something else entirely
With just a brief view of the car in the original video, it did look a lot like a Bill Thomas Cheetah, but upon closer inspection it turned out to be a kit car.

After being urged to return to the car, Jered made a follow-up clip in which he revealed that the owner of the property had told him the car was handmade.
Exactly what sort of kit car it is, remains a mystery, but whatever it is, it’s a real shame to see it in such a sorry state.
