This pilot cleared up the chemtrails conspiracy theory and explained exactly why white trails appear in the sky behind planes.
It’s a question that crosses all of our minds when we spot a plane flying high in the sky, followed by a wispy white trail.
Over the years, many theories have surfaced in regard to what the white tracks actually are.
Now, one pilot has cleared up the chemtrails conspiracy theory once and for all, and the answer is actually a simple explanation.

The chemtrails conspiracy theory is an age-old aviation tale
When an airplane darts through the sky, a white trail often follows behind it.
But what is the white trail actually made up of? Well, many aviation enthusiasts have their own theories, with one being the chemtrail conspiracy theory.

However, there’s actually a pretty simple explanation behind the illusion, and one pilot took to the internet to explain what really goes on.
YouTuber and pilot Captain Steeeve explained that the white lines are actually called contrails.
“Is it smoke coming from the back of the airplane, is it condensation, is it chemicals with which I am seeding the planet?” the pilot joked
“Well, it’s not smoke, and it’s not chemicals, and it’s not exactly condensation either, [well] it is a little bit.
“Those are actually small ice particles, and they are created when my hot engine goes through that super cold air at altitude, minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit,” he explained
You see, this really does create some condensation, and that is where the name ‘contrails’ originates from.

The particles then subsequently float in the air, much like a cloud right behind the aircraft.
It’s quite simple when you think about it, right?
Online, aviation fans were shocked at the conspiracy theory clear-up
Online, many airplane enthusiasts were glad to have the confusion cleared up by the pilot.
“As a ground staff, that’s good information for people. Kudos, Captain Steve,” said one airplane fan.
“For over 60 years, I was paranoid about the chemtrails. Now, I can finally breathe easy. Thanks, Captain Steeeve,” said one impressed viewer.
“Thank you for clarifying because I’m tired of these conspiracy theorists claiming those are chemtrails,” said another.
This isn’t the first time that Captain Steeeve has cleared up popular misconceptions about planes and flying.
The pilot previously explained that there are only two windows that actually open on an aircraft, as well as his unique use of the feature.
