While you are the pilot of an airplane, just a few months into your career, the last thing you expect to hear is your dad after you accidentally end up on his radio frequency.

This sounds like something from a film, yet it is the reality of what happened to pilot Ava Almquist just six months into her career.

The young pilot posted an audio recording of the heartwarming moment on her Instagram page, calling it one of her favorite memories.

Read on to find out what she and her dad said after an unexpected encounter.

This is how the pilots recognized each other on the radio

Both are pilots on airliners, and they both happened to be flying an airplane that same day.

While in communication with a control tower, the two happened to be using the same radio frequency.

After communicating with the tower, a voice came onto the radio in Ava’s ear.

“Well, good evening, Ava,” said the voice.

“Dad?” responded Ava.

“You got it,” he said back.

The moment was touching and funny, with it clearly a surprise for the two pilots.

Ava laughed and said hi back, while her dad also laughed at the random event.

The chances of that happening are clearly small, that two pilots from the same family hear each other on the radio.

Ava was just six months into her career as a pilot

It turned out Ava was just six months into her flying career when this happened.

What was also impressive was how her dad instantly recognized her voice on the radio.

Clearly, Ava recognized her dad’s voice too, and it was nice to hear their reactions together.

Ava’s Instagram is well worth a follow.

She posts plenty of content on her career and travels around the world.

It is also brilliant to see a young woman achieve so much success in an industry that is no doubt heavily male-dominated.

This particular moment was incredibly sweet, and we love to see little family moments like that.
