A planned EV air taxi would skip all of the gridlock chaos in NYC.
The new route could mean spending minutes in the air and saving hours.
It’s all thanks to Archer Aviation and United Airlines.
But, what does this really mean for New York?

It’s no secret that EVs are the future
With many cars taking on all-electric models, emissions could be dramatically reduced in the years to come.
But roads aren’t the only spaces being occupied by EV technology.
Up above the clouds, EVs are also operating.
Flying Taxis are a new phenomenon

And now it’s NYC’s turn to get in on the action.
This EV air taxi could skip New York City gridlock

Together, Archer Aviation and United Airlines have unleashed the new route to be taken on by the Midnight aircraft, and it could mean that New York’s hours of traffic could all be bypassed.
The route means that ‘Archer’s vision of an air taxi network in NYC would connect Manhattan with nearby airports using its Midnight aircraft, allowing customers to replace one-to-two-hour drives with flights that take 5-15 minutes, potentially saving hours versus sitting in traffic,’ says the company.
The aircraft, aptly named Midnight is a ‘piloted electric air taxi’ that can carry four passengers, all whilst the electric power means it’s better for the environment by outputting lower levels noise alongside emissions.

The aircraft has 12 engines and propellers and is being built in the US.
“The New York region is home to three of the world’s preeminent airports, serving upwards of 150 million passengers annually.
“But the drive from Manhattan to any of these airports can be painful, taking one, sometimes two hours.
“We want to change that by giving residents and visitors the option to complete trips in mere minutes,” said the CEO and Founder of Archer, Adam Goldstein.
However, no timeline has been set for when the network of air taxis could come into play, as Archer is working on seeking type certification for the aircraft.
The goal, though, is to ‘enable passengers to travel from Manhattan to nearby airports in just 5-15 minutes aboard Midnight,’ which means saying bye-bye to horrendous traffic jams.
This will no doubt be music to every NYC resident’s ears.
