This Pokémon card was originally worth the price of a Honda Civic and it’s now worth a few Aston Martin supercars.

And we’re not talking about years later.

We’re talking about 14 days later.

But this is just further proof of something we already knew.

This Pokémon card’s value spike happened in two weeks

This ‘Great Encounters Holo Cresselia’ Pokémon card in PSA 10 Gem Mint condition sold for $6,000 in late September.

Just 14 days later, on October 4, the exact same card in the same condition sold for $960,000.

That’s a 15,900 percent increase in about two weeks.

You can buy almost any car in the world for that sum.

You can buy three Aston Martin Vanquish supercars, or maybe a Ferrari SF90 Stradale.

This card isn’t even that rare

What’s crazy is that unlike ultra-rare trophy cards, this card is relatively common, with a known PSA 10 graded population of around 45.

Prior to this sale, no card of this type had ever crossed $10,000.

Some suggest the initial $6,000 listing was an underpriced deal that went unnoticed before the market recognized its true buyer interest.

Either way, this is still pretty wild.

This is further proof that people trust everything but cash

The fact that some Pokémon cards are now worth more than a Manhattan penthouse is just further proof of what we already knew: people just don’t trust cash.

Watches, cars, Pokémon cards – you name it.

Anything, as long as it’s not cash.

We can’t really blame them, though.

Inflation has always been a thing, but it’s been accelerating over the last few years, and people who have money to invest are beginning to realize that keeping your money in a bank is a great way to see your purchasing power erode over time.

Meanwhile, people like Logan Paul can buy a Pokémon card for millions and yet somehow sell it for even more millions just a couple of years later.

So maybe people who buy Pokémon cards have a point.
