Charles Leclerc bought his Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale for around $830,000 and less than 2 years later it's worth a lot more already

Charles Leclerc, like most F1 drivers, has a collection that includes several invitation-only supercars, including his Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale.

He bought it in 2024 for around $830,000, which seemed like a lot at the time.

But the value went up and up and…

However, there’s a surprising reason why Leclerc – again, like most F1 drivers – hasn’t really driven his SF90 that often.

The reasons why F1 drivers don’t necessarily drive their supercars

F1 drivers often have direct – and prioritized – access to limited-edition supercars built by the companies that are technically their employers.

And they generally take advantage of this particular perk.

Carlos Sainz, for example, openly said he bought nearly every limited Ferrari he could as a form of investment.

However, most F1 drivers – outside of their jobs – don’t drive their cars very often, and certainly not their supercars.

Lewis Hamilton said he doesn’t own any cars anymore, and while Leclerc does, he often uses his Purosangue, which is an SUV.

The reason is simple, and it can be found in nearly every interview any F1 driver has ever given.

In short, F1 drivers don’t like driving on the road that much.

For two reasons.

First, even the fastest, sharpest road-going car feels slow and cumbersome when compared to a Formula 1 car.

Second, ironically, driving in traffic when you already drive at 200mph for a living feels like a chore.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Hamilton candidly admitted he simply dislikes driving.

“I find it stressful. Anything can happen,” he said.

How much is Charles Lerclerc’s Ferrari worth now?

Back when he bought it in 2024, the starting price for a Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale was north of $800,000.

Charles Leclerc’s SF90 was probably a bit more expensive than that because it featured several custom elements designed specifically for him.

One of only 799 ever made, the 1,016hp SF90 XX Stradale was a car you couldn’t buy unless Ferrari told you you could, which explains why its value went up.

In November 2025, a 2024 SF90 XX Stradale with 1,800 miles on the clock went for nearly $2 million.

In early 2026, investment-grade examples are generally advertised above $1.7 million to $1.8 million.

Leclerc is unlikely to sell his SF90 right now, while he’s still racing for Ferrari, but you never know.

If nothing else, you could call that severance pay.
