Polestar 3 claims world record for longest distance traveled by electric SUV on one charge

The Polestar 3 SUV just set a new Guinness World Record for the longest journey traveled by an electric SUV on a single charge.

It drove on public roads and covered over 580 miles.

This is impressive.

And it’s even more impressive when you bear one thing in mind.

How the Polestar 3 achieved this record

A Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor drove 935.44 kilometers (581.3 miles) on UK public roads on a single charge.

The fact that this performance SUV did that on public roads is particularly impressive because it means the journey was exactly the same as it would’ve been for anybody else on the road at that time.

They didn’t shut down the roads, they didn’t pick a track to drive around.

Nope, just a ‘regular’ journey with an electric SUV, with potentially heavy traffic, bad weather, and so on.

Even so, the car amazingly achieved 581 miles on a charge.

One more thing worth pointing out is that the electric SUV was a production model on Michelin Sport tires.

So, again, no corners were cut.

The only thing worth bearing in mind

Even though the Guinness World Record was achieved on public roads in a standard car, there’s one thing worth remembering, and it’s the fact that these records are still not exactly replicable in the real world.

In order to get the most out of your car, whether it’s an EV or even an old diesel, you need to drive while keeping a million things in mind.

You need to keep a low, stable speed, and you need to be very strategic with braking and accelerating.

In other words, you need to drive in a way that almost feels ‘unnatural’.

And it can be uncomfortable, too.

Because, of course, you also need to drive without the A/C. Although in the UK that might not be such a problem.

It’s still impressive, though.
