Polish athletes at the Winter Olympics have a stronger incentive than ever to win a gold medal; if they do so, they receive a brand-new Toyota Corolla as part of their winnings.

The Winter Olympics are well underway at the moment, with Norway at the top of the medal chart and racking up the medals at the time of writing.

But in addition to the glory, there is now an extra incentive for Polish athletes to take home the gold.

In addition to a prize package of $211,000/750,000PLN and a two-room apartment – this is life-changing stuff.

How Olympic Athletes could win brand-new cars

According to CNBC, the incentive applies to individual gold medalists from Poland only.

First up, they will receive a prize package of $211,000/750,000PLN.

However, Polish athletes could also win a two-room apartment, plus a brand-new Toyota Corolla car.

In the country, the 2026 Corolla Hybrid retails for 119,600PLN or $33,650.

Its 1.8-liter hybrid engine makes 138hp, and it has an impressive fuel economy of 53.5MPG.

In all honesty, the athletes will probably be more excited about the extra cash to go with the gold medal.

But a free car is certainly not a bad thing, especially one as reliable and comfortable as the Corolla.

Poland has not yet given away a free Toyota Corolla

At the time of writing, Poland has won four medals at the Winter Olympics.

However, none of these are gold, so they’ve yet to give away a Toyota or an apartment.

The country is not the only one to offer cash as a financial reward for winning a medal.

A whole host of countries have incentives for their athletes.

The two highest are Singapore and Hong Kong.

Singapore will give the gold medal winner $792,000 if they win one.

Hong Kong, meanwhile, will give an athlete $768,000 for winning a gold medal.

Compare that to the United States, which will give away just $38,000 for gold medal winners.

Some countries, like the United Kingdom, aren’t actually offering a cash prize.

While there is no gold yet, there is still time for Polish athletes to claim their free brand-new cars.
