Porsche Managing Director said the Porsche Taycan is the best electric car in the world.

Obviously, you wouldn’t expect an exec to say negative things about one of its own cars.

But the reason he thinks the Taycan is the best electric car in the world is intriguing.

And he also made another admission.

Why he believes the Taycan is the best electric car in the world

Speaking to Automobilwoche, a German newspaper, Robert Ader, Porsche Managing Director for the company’s German market, praised the Porsche Taycan.

“For me, it is the best electric car in the world,” he said.

In the years and months ahead of the Taycan unveil, the automaker made a point of reminding everyone at every available turn that it was a Porsche first, and an electric car second.

The German marque continued to reiterate that point after the launch.

This is ultimately the reason why Ader thinks the Taycan is the best electric car in the world.

Because it’s an electric car, which is good, but it’s a Porsche, which is great.

Having said that, he also conceded that things aren’t going as well as everyone was hoping.

In the interview, Ader argued the Taycan isn’t doing as poorly as some sources claimed, but it was indeed part of a segment that’s not as large as the brand expected.

“Electric mobility is generally proceeding more slowly than planned,” Porsche Managing Director Ader admitted.

Why the Taycan is a key model for Porsche

The Porsche Taycan has beaten several records and even set some new ones.

It was the first electric car to star in a climactic Hollywood car chase in Den of Thieves 2, and it set different records around Germany’s Nürburgring.

But it also set the Guinness World Record for the longest drift on ice.

More importantly, it gave the German marque some food for thought.

This is because this model sold really well in its first four years on the market, which told the company its customers are definitely ready for EVs.

However, sales slowed down quite rapidly because customers realized it was depreciating much faster than other models, which is something automakers probably need to work on.
