The Radia Windrunner – an aircraft that is almost the length of an NFL field – is set to be shown in Paris next week at the Paris Air Show.

The huge plane – the largest in the world – will make its debut in the French capital, allowing aviation enthusiasts to witness it in all its glory.

Aircraft all across the world come in all different shapes and sizes.

From huge sprawling jets to small private aircraft, the possibilities are endless.

For example, a supersonic jet from a Texas startup aims to offer 55-minute New York to Paris flights by 2030.

Plus, the world’s first-ever hydrogen-electric air cargo service is going to launch in the UK, too.

But, for fans of huge, powerful aircraft, this may spike your interest.

Soon to be the world’s largest aircraft, the WindRunner is set to make its first-ever public debut in Paris in just a matter of days.

The huge aircraft was built with the primary purpose of transporting wind turbines around the globe.

In a press release, the company revealed some exciting news ahead of the Paris Air Show that is set to happen later this week.

Manufacturer Radia says: “The world’s largest aircraft – 12x bigger cargo volume than a 747 and able to land on unpaved landing strips.

“Radia will exhibit for the first time at the Paris Air Show (Le Bourget) in June 2025, showcasing its breakthrough logistics platform and expanding global industrial base.”

It also revealed that is set to have a whopping five new ‘strategic aerospace suppliers’, which proves exciting for the company, too.

But what about the aircraft itself?

Well, the huge metal shell is no ordinary plane, that’s for sure.

The length of the Radia WindRunner spans 356 ft with a wingspan of 261 ft and a maximum payload of 72,575 kg.

It is ‘designed for dual-use applications in energy, defense, aerospace, and disaster response. It is the largest aircraft ever developed by volume, with a 7,700 m3 cargo bay and a 72.6 metric tonnes payload capacity.’

The release continues: “It can land on unpaved runways as short as 1,800 meters and requires no specialized ground infrastructure.’ continued the company.”

Thanks to its sheer size, the Radia Windrunner will be able to deliver huge objects safely, including wind turbines over 100 meters long.

So, keep your eyes peeled as the plane debuts at the Paris Air Show on June 16.
