A rare Canadian 1959 Dodge Viscount was given a much-needed wash after spending a decade parked outside.
If you’re unfamiliar with the name, that’s not really a surprise, as the Dodge Viscount was only in production for one year.
It was built by Chrysler Canada for the model year 1959.
The car was based on the Plymouth Fury, but had a 1959 Dodge front clip attached to the body.

The 1959 Dodge Viscount was given a much-needed clean
The Plymouth Fury was a long-running nameplate for Chrysler, originally launched in 1955.
A few years on from the car’s introduction, Chrysler Canada released the Dodge Viscount.

With a short time in production, only 1,835 were ever produced.
And one of them has been left gathering dust in the garden of the guy behind the Cold War Motors YouTube channel.
In a recently uploaded clip, the YouTuber says he rescued the 1959 Dodge Viscount from a barn and took it back to his property, where it’s been parked outside ever since due to a stuck engine.
A decade on, the car had acquired a thick layer of dirt and grime and was crying out for a good clean.
So, the YouTuber hauled it out of the spot it was in and got going, giving the rare motor a much-needed spruce up.
Despite its age, the Dodge Viscount cleaned up very well, and its panels were gleaming after the dirt, mud, and foliage were blasted away.
Is the car going to run again?
Although the car enthusiast was able to get the Dodge Viscount looking as good as new, in the clip, he explained that getting it back on the road would be a much larger task.
“Very likely if it’s ever going to run, the heads would have to come off,” he said, noting that the engine was completely seized.

Looking under the hood, he branded the engine ‘junk’.
“Everything that’s under here is the problem,” he added.
Although he did admit it would be a fun car to get back up and running, so here’s hoping he gives it a go and gives this rare find a new lease on life.
